The fruits of our labour are here and they’ve arrived in the form of plum jam!

If we didn’t have enough courgettes already, we now have a surplus of plums to get busy with. Our beautiful, abundant garden really can’t be stopped!

Our courgette intake is now at least one huge courgette a day. We’ve been making courgette fritters, pasta and quiche, with the fritters in particular going down a treat. We’ve even had our first sweetcorn, which was very exciting!

Hannah, our Operations Manager, has a real talent for jam making and cooking and has been busy turning our plums into delicious homemade jam. There’s something very satisfying about seeing something that started life in our garden make its way onto our plates. The jam has already been enjoyed on toast, with cheese and crackers and even given away as a lovely little gift.

Next up, we’re hoping our potatoes will be ready, along with herbs, chillies and peppers.

It’s so exciting to see everything that’s growing and to watch the garden become such a part of life at Contact. It might only be a small part of the home we create here, but it adds so much to the warm and homely atmosphere. We take care in all that we do for our residents and we love being able to grow, cook and share things together. We can’t wait to see what comes next!
