This Autumn, we’re inviting you to put the kettle on, bake a cake and raise some money for Contact!
We’re launching our Cakes for Contact fundraising appeal and would love for our supporters to get involved. Whether you fancy hosting a cake afternoon at home, holding a bake sale at work or simply getting a few friends together for tea and cake, there are lots of ways to take part.
The idea is simple: bake some cakes, make a cup of tea or coffee and ask your friends, family or colleagues to donate what they might usually spend in a cafe. It could be a small gathering with a few friends, a bigger afternoon tea or a cake sale in your workplace. However you choose to do it, every donation will help support the young women living at Contact.
A little cake can make a big difference
At Contact, we provide a safe home and support for homeless teenage girls and young women aged 16 – 25. In our warm house, our support workers help the girls with everyday life, education and preparing for greater independence.
Every donation helps us continue providing this support and create a welcoming home where the girls can feel safe and cared for. So while Cakes for Contact might start with a slice of red velvet and a cup of tea, the money raised can help make a real difference to the girls’ lives.
How can I get involved?
It couldn’t be easier! Simply choose a date, invite some friends, family or colleagues and decide what kind of cake-filled get-together you’d like to host.
You could:
- Host an afternoon tea at home
- Organise a bake sale at work
- Invite friends over for coffee and cake
- Hold a cake stall at a community event
- Or come up with your own idea!
We’re not looking for anything elaborate. A cup of tea and a slice of cake is all it takes to get involved. You can ask guests to donate what they would normally spend on a coffee and cake, with donations made directly to Contact or through your own fundraising page.
We’ll help you get started
Once you sign up, we’ll provide a downloadable Cakes for Contact fundraising pack with everything you need to get your event off the ground, including ideas and useful information to help you make the most of your fundraising.
We’ll also be in touch to say hello, wish you good luck and thank you for taking part. If you’re planning something a little bigger or need some extra support, we’ll be happy to help where we can.
These are your events, so you can make them as big, small or as fancy as you like!
Can’t host an event? You can still get involved
If you haven’t had a chance to host your own Cakes for Contact event, you can still take part. Why not donate what you would usually spend on a coffee and cake?
Every donation, however big or small, helps us continue supporting the young women at Contact.
