Introducing wonderful Shanae!
We are incredibly proud of our long time supporter Shanae, who recently completed the Great Manchester Run 10K alongside colleagues from SAS Daniels in support of Contact.
Shanae’s connection to Contact goes back many years. As a former resident, she experienced first-hand the support Contact provides to young women and teenage girls facing homelessness. Since then, she has remained a valued supporter of the charity, always looking for ways to give back and champion our work.
Shanae has played a key role in nominating Contact as SAS Daniels’ Charity of the Year, helping to create a fantastic partnership that has raised both funds and awareness for the charity.
Most recently, she has taken on the Great Manchester Run, another incredible achievement. Going from couch to 10K in just four months, Shanae dedicated herself to training while fundraising alongside her SAS Daniels teammates.
For Shanae, the challenge was about much more than crossing the finish line. Looking back on the experience, she recognised the friends and colleagues who helped her along the way:

Seeing my friends work so hard for a cause that means so much to me has been truly heart warming! Every one of them has supported and motivated me throughout this journey, helping me believe in myself when I needed it most and for that, I’m grateful beyond words for each one of them!

Completing the race was a huge personal achievement for Shanae and a wonderful demonstration of the lasting impact of Contact Hostel. Seeing former residents go on to achieve great things and choose to return the support for others is always inspiring.
We are incredibly grateful for Shanae’s continued support and advocacy. From her time as a resident to helping raise awareness and funds through SAS Daniels, she remains an important part of the Contact community.
Her journey is a powerful reminder of the lasting impact that support, encouragement and opportunity can have, and we are proud to see her continuing to make a difference for the young women and teenage girls we support today.
