On 31st May, Team Contact took on the monumental challenge of the Great Manchester Run and what an incredible day it was.
With sunshine overhead and nervous excitement in the air, our runners rose to the occasion with determination and resilience. Taking on the race was no easy feat, and we are hugely grateful to everyone who laced up their trainers and took part.
After months of training, fundraising and preparation, our runners crossed the finish line having raised more than £5,000 to support Contact and the young women we work with. Every mile completed and every pound raised will help us continue providing vital support to young women experiencing homelessness.
Supporter Spotlight: Shanae!
One runner’s story made the day particularly special. Former Contact resident Shanae took part in the challenge alongside colleagues and supporters, giving back to a charity that once supported her.
Reflecting on the experience, Shanae said:
“Raising funds for Contact, who once housed and fed me, really gave me the motivation and dedication to push through and believe in myself and we did it!! Super grateful to all my work friends that pushed themselves (and me!!) through to that finish line. As Carson rightly said, each of us left parts of our souls on that course, but there isn’t another charity we would rather voluntarily torture ourselves for!”
Seeing former residents go on to achieve great things and choose to support Contact in this way is always inspiring, and we are incredibly proud of Shanae and the SAS Daniels team for making it to the end. Soul fragments aside, their achievement was nothing short of incredible!
We would also like to extend a huge thank you to the fantastic team at SAS Daniels, our Charity of the Year partners, the team at Astute, our trustee Kirsty, and everyone who ran, fundraised, donated, volunteered or cheered from the sidelines. Your generosity, commitment and encouragement helped make the day such a success.
The Great Manchester Run was truly a celebration of community and the difference that people can make when they come together for a shared cause.
Feeling inspired? Whether you’re an individual runner or part of a team looking for your next challenge, we’d be delighted to welcome you to Team Contact for next year’s Great Manchester Run. If you’re interested in taking part, please get in touch with Ellen or Victoria.
Thank you for being part of Team Contact and congratulations to every single runner. We’re so proud of you!
