A Home for Everyone: Embracing Faith and Community at Contact Hostel
At Contact Hostel, we believe in supporting our residents in whatever is important to them—whether that’s celebrating their faith, personal traditions or simply creating moments of belonging. We recognise that all of our service users are unique and focus on ensuring that each young woman feels respected, valued and supported during her time at Contact.
So far in March, we’ve had the privilege of supporting one of our residents as she observes Ramadan. Recognising how significant this time is for her, we’ve done what we can to make the experience feel special. We provided decorations in our communal area, some traditional foods for her iftar and ensured she has the support she needs to follow her fasting routine.
We also took the opportunity to mark Shrove Tuesday, marking the beginning of Lent in the Christian calendar. Our residents got involved in flipping pancakes, adding their favourite toppings and sharing plenty of laughter in the process. Moments like these bring our community together, offering both a sense of normality and fun in a space where the girls can feel at home.
At the heart of everything we do is the commitment to making Contact Hostel a place where each young woman is supported in the ways that matter most to her. Whether it’s celebrating a faith-based tradition or simply enjoying a shared activity, we’re here to ensure that everyone feels seen, respected and cared for.
