‘‘Over the past 6 years I have seen the amazing work that Contact does. We help show young women that they can do anything they want, and with a bit of support and guidance it can be achieved. I enjoy working for Contact as you get to see the great work first hand and know that you have helped make it happen. Contact is a brilliant place to work and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds”

Alison

Service Manager

Alison has worked for Contact since 2004.

She has vital first hand experience of the house, having first come to Contact for support when she needed help. She is also a foster carer.

“Contact is a charity close to my heart as they actually supported me when I became homeless at 18. I joined in 2005 as a casual support worker, over time I have moved up the ladder and supported hundreds of young women.

Contact is not only a lovely supportive place to live for the young women, but its also a lovely supportive place to work. “

Helen

Fundraising & Income Partner

Helen joined Contact in 2023, having previously worked at a variety of local and national charities.

”I first discovered my love of fundraising whilst volunteering for my local hospice over 15 years ago, since then I have worked at a number of different charities. I joined Contact Hostel in 2023 and can honestly say it is one of the most inspirational places I have ever had the pleasure of working. The positivity and support that is evident the minute you walk through the door is truly amazing. I am proud to be a member of the team here and look forward to helping Contact continue it’s vital work”

Karen

Senior Support Worker

Karen has worked for Contact as a Senior Support Worker since 2010.

“I have worked at Contact Hostel for over 14 years. The work is varied and ranges from daily cleaning duties to supporting the girls in areas such as practical living skills or providing emotional support.

I get immense job satisfaction from seeing the changes that we make to each young person, as they grow in confidence and go on to succeed in their lives. The work can be challenging at times but is so worthwhile. It is the most rewarding job and I know that we do make a difference.”

Alex

Support Worker

Alex worked as a healthcare assistant in a nursing home and later as a support worker, where she completed her health & social course.

“I applied to work at Contact because I had lots of experience working with vulnerable individuals and their families, and I feel I have learnt so much during my time here. I am privileged to be part of such an amazing team who work extremely hard to ensure girls in need have a safe and loving home. Working at Contact, I am able to support young people to become a better version of themselves and I am able to give back to society. I feel it’s a big responsibility, but this experience has been very inspiring so far and I look forward to the future here at Contact.”

Phyllis

Support Worker

Phyllis has worked in many areas of Social Health Care including NHS, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol, Offenders, Homelessness and Young People.

"In June 2008 I came to Contact briefly as a Support Worker before returning in 2013. I was anticipating staying a short time before retiring, but now years later I am still here amongst the most vibrant, inspirational, and most amazing group of people.

I perceive Contact to be like a beacon of hope. One that offers the following to all who live and work here: Calming, Open-mindedness, Nurturing, Tranquil, Accommodating, Comforting and Transformational.”

Lisa

Casual Support Worker

Before working at Contact, Lisa was a Special Educational Needs support worker at her local primary school, delivering 1:1 support to children with additional needs.

“I feel very proud and honoured to be able to contribute to providing a safe, caring, and supportive environment for our Service Users. Our aim is to help them realise their full potential and go forward in life with confidence and positivity - and to succeed in whatever they want to achieve. With a warm, homely atmosphere and the friendliest of staff, I can honestly say it is the best place I have had the privilege to work!”

Victoria

Administration Assistant

Victoria joined the team in 2024 and provides administrative support to both fundraising and support services.

“I’m new to the team at Contact this year and I’m so inspired by everyone that keeps this amazing charity going. I’ve been self employed for 15 years running my own business, so starting here has been a brand new and exciting challenge for me. I was drawn to come and work for a local charity and do something worthwhile to feel like I’m giving back. I’m really enjoying learning about fundraising and every day is different here. Contact creates not only a great warm working environment, but a wonderful homely inviting space for the women and girls that live here”.

Chris

Casual Support Worker

Chris has been a casual Support Worker at Contact since 2009 and has many years experience of working in various residential settings for children, young people and adults.
