Our Learning Hub is complete!

We are thrilled to announce that our newly refurbished Learning Hub is now open!

We now have a tranquil space, where our residents can complete homework, attend sessions or meet with their social workers. It will be such an asset to our residents as we support them into education, training or employment.

Prior to renovations, this was the last of our ‘bedrooms’ to be updated. This was historically a bedroom where several of our staff members stayed whilst working. More recently it had been used as a second office but the old fitted wardrobes were not an ideal use of space and had sustained damaged over the years. We had one desk in this room which is where our Fundraiser worked, and a donated table and chairs set which was used for meetings. The space was not being used to the best of it’s potential and was not very useful to our residents, which was our main concern.

Now renovations have been completed, the room is almost unrecognisable! We now have a dedicated dual desk space where service users can use laptop computers to complete coursework in a peaceful and calm environment that is more condusive to learning. We have a fantastic interactive tv screen which can be used for watching online learning materials, displaying presentations or in the devliery of training/group sessions. We now also have a more suitable table around which staff and service user meetings can be held, as well as a less formal window seating area where service users can meet with external agencies such as Social Workers as required. Our fundraisers desk is still situated in this room but will follow a clear desk policy, so that outside of working hours this desk will also be available.

We would like to say a special thank you to all of our funders who contributed to these renovations including Manchester Relief In Need, The Leeds Building Society, B&Q Foundation, Screwfix Foundation, Hedley Foundation and The Percy Bilton Foundation.
